I’ve been thinking about the term “Girl Power” a lot lately..
Maybe it’s because I’ve been in a big transition mode of building a business, focusing on consulting and chatting with many other women entrepreneurs — around my age and 20+ years my senior. To whom I consider incredible mentors in my life whether they’re editing my new website, or just giving me tips on what coffee shops they like to spend their most productive days. These talented women that I look up to are are taking the time out of their busy days to help and advise me, truly doing something that doesn’t exactly serve them at all, but serves someone else. They’re not doing it for favors, recognition, or money, just simply out of the kindness of their heart. Can’t find many people like that nowadays. Mentoring another woman is most definitely the ultimate girl power move.
Maybe it’s because a few of my closest girlfriends have been going through fairly large road blocks in life lately, both in their business lives, and personal lives. I’ve been thinking about how these girlfriends have been there for me in the past (so much!) and how I can be supporting them right now in the best way possible. I also know they’ll be there for me in the future when I need them the most. All of these instances remind me of the term girl power. In short, girl power to me is lifting my girls up while they’re down, supporting them, donating to their charity, reading their blog, liking their instagram, going to their event, texting them for no reason at all, and, most importantly, listening to them. Girl power is being and acting like the ultimate girls girl. Women supporting each other, baby!
Last, but certainly not least, maybe it’s because I’m in-flight on my way to a girls getaway with my sweet mom. I mean, how cool is she to take the time out of her schedule to take me on a vacay, just the two of us?! My best friend for life — this lady always answers my calls, provides the best career advice (she manages and owns multiple businesses, talk about a role model!), and is always down to celebrate life with me, no reason needed, but definitely champagne needed 😉 .
I guess what I’m trying to say here is that I’ve had so much support both personally and professionally from so many women in my life, and I am eternally grateful. Today let’s pass on the freaking fabulous girl power vibes, keep on keepin’ on supporting each other, and just simply being there for each other.
