Now that we’re a few days post summer solstice, it is most definitely feeling like summertime over here! I’m getting excited for lots of upcoming travel plans, lots of time with my family, and lots of time on the east coast. Even though the weather in San Francisco isn’t usually what I’d consider warm in July and August, we’ve been planning a bunch of little trips for when we are home in the city so that we can escape good ol’ Karl The Fog and run off to the south bay, Carmel, and of course, wine country. My summer “to-do” list below..
Outfit: Sam Edelman Heels, Sanctuary Wrap Dress
Discover a new wine I like. Always love learning about new wines and broadening my horizons. I’ve been very into dry Pinot Gris lately (NOT to be confused with Pinot Grigio.)
Go camping! Like, real camping. Cooking on the fire and sleeping in a tent type camping. Checked this off last weekend at Lake Sonoma, phew, kinda glad that one is over. 😉
Join a new wine club. We love Walt and can’t get enough, but I’ve had my eye on Scribe and also checking out Ashes & Diamonds winery in Napa.
Switch up my fitness routine. I love ClassPass, but I’m growing a little bored of my usual routine. I’ve recently been getting into yoga and back into running. Maybe I’ll look into getting a trainer once a week to switch it up!
Swim across the lake. This one will be for one of my east coast trips. I did a 3+ mile swim a few years ago and it was such a good workout…couldn’t walk for days. 🙂
Grill a lot and cook in-season recipes. Nothin’ like summertime flavors. I can’t wait to grill outside with family in Vermont and cook in Tahoe with friends!
Get into a morning routine of celebrating gratitude or reading a few pages of The Daily Stoic. I’m usually rushing out the door at 6am for workouts or work commitments during the year. With more travel and chill time the next few months, I’m hoping to set aside some quiet morning time for reflection and gratitude.
Go tubing somewhere! White River in Vermont, Russian River in Guerneville, or the Truckee River in Tahoe. Did this a few years ago and it was a memorable day.
Set goals for the fall and winter. I have a lot of professional changes on the horizon. For me, fall has always been the perfect reset, heads-down type of season when it comes to work. Excited to sit down and plan out my year.
Go to a Giants game. For the fries and beer, of course.
Try a few new restaurants & bars in the city. I’ve been seriously lacking in this department lately! I have my eye on Verjus for happy hour and Flour + Water Pizzeria.
Go to Salt & Straw for ice cream. Can you believe I’ve never been?! Smitten girl through and through over here.
Bring dinner to the beach on a random night. We only live a few blocks away!
Have a girls-only wine night at my home. I’ve made it a huge goal in the last year to broaden my network and relationships. I have met so many new friends and would love to have my girls over, both old and new, for a little rosé and lots of laughs.
Continue to educate myself on nutrition. A growing passion of mine.
Start a book club for the fall! I love reading, but don’t have the push to finish books in a timely manor lately. Would love to organize this with a bunch of ladies.
Walk around the hood with wine in a coffee cup and enjoy the sunset on a week night.
Figure out artwork for my home. Some of our walls are still bare since our move in January. Yikes. I need to sit down and have some of our photos from our travels printed and framed. I swear some of the photos we snapped in Italy last year are better than Gray Malin. 😉
Speaking of photos, I plan on using my professional camera much more this summer! The photos are a serious upgrade from my usual iPhone shots.
*Last but not least, I’m excited to grow my blog this coming year! What would you like to see?!
xo and happy summer!
Ok.. you inspired me to work on my new routine
switch up! Time for change!
